Metallum is a Sydney based Advanced Manufacturing business. Their mission is to provide quality impeccable work, fast lead times and cost effective solutions to the Construction, Fabrication and Manufacturing Industries.Metallum is experiencing significant operational inefficiencies and inaccuracies in its day to day business activities due to the absence of a coded “computer based“ measuring tool, hindering productivity and decision-making processes.
Metallum is requiring someone with the ability to create a coded computer-based measuring tool, that can breakdown costs for specific costs centres in the business. A person with the expertise in this area could contribute by applying their deep analytical skills and design efficient algorithms to optimise data management and functionality.

- The student will be introduced to the current system and procedures and research the market for a new integrated system.
- Consider all the variables in the manufacturing business.
- Develop a bespoke system that fits Metallum’s needs.
- Trial and run the new software.

RESEARCH OUTCOMES
Metallum is looking to implementing a software model into our business – this software in a perfect world will integrate with our current accounting system.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The intern will receive $3,000 per month of the internship, usually in the form of scholarship payments.
It is expected that the intern will primarily undertake this research project during regular business hours and maintain contact with their academic mentor throughout the internship either through face-to-face or phone meetings as appropriate.
The intern and their academic mentor will have the opportunity to negotiate the project’s scope, milestones and timeline during the project planning stage.
