The total cost of a 3-5 month internship ranges from $20K (3 months) to $26K (5 months), including:

  • Student stipend of $3K per month
  • Academic Mentor one-off fee of $5.5K
  • APR.Intern one-off fee of $5.5K for administration and case management

 

Below are the rebates and subsidies available to eligible industry.

Australian Government 50% Rebate

An Australian Government 50% rebate is available to all Australian businesses, bringing down the cost of a 3-month project to $10,000. These internships are supported by the Australian Government Department of Education, through the ‘Supporting more women in STEM careers: Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) – National Research Internships Program’.

Defence Innovation Network (DIN) Voucher

Eligible NSW Defence businesses can access a $10,000 Defence Innovation Network (DIN) Voucher. When combined with the Australian Government 50% Rebate, this brings down the cost of a 3-month project to $5,000.

Defence Science Centre (DSC) Voucher

Eligible WA Defence businesses can access a $10,000 Defence Science Centre (DSC) Voucher. When combined with the Australian Government 50% Rebate, this brings down the cost of a 3-month project to $5,000.

Defence Science Institute (DSI) Voucher

Eligible VIC Defence businesses can access a $10,000 Defence Science Institute (DSI) Voucher. When combined with the Australian Government 50% Rebate, this brings down the cost of a 3-month project to $5,000.

Innovative Manufacturing CRC (IMCRC) Voucher

Eligible manufacturing businesses can access up up to $10,000 in funding support from the Innovative Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (IMCRC). When combined with the Australian Government 50% Rebate, this brings down the cost of a 3-month project to $5,000 for IMCRC partners or $7,500 for non-IMCRC partners.
