An Australian Government 90% rebate is now available to all Australian businesses that place a domestic PhD student – this brings down the cost of a 3-month research project to just $2,000.
These internships are supported by the Australian Government, through its ‘Supporting more women in STEM careers: Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) – National Research Internships Program (NRIP)’.
3-MONTH PROJECT COST: $20,000

Project cost includes a $3,000 per month student scholarship, a one-off $5,500 academic mentor fee and a one-off $5,500 project management fee.

Internships can be signed up until 31 March 2021, for completion by 31 August 2021
90% rebate will only be granted to industry partners once all agreed milestones and reporting outlined in the project contract are completed and approved by APR.Intern
PhD student must be domestic and have full-time or part-time enrolment status at an Australian university
The total number of rebates offered are limited, and subject to targets in relation to domestic participation and gender equity – rebates will be offered at the discretion of APR.Intern
As of 1 January 2021, we are again be able to offer a 50% industry rebate on projects with international students under the Australian Government’s National Research Internships Program.
APR.Intern has also partnered with the following organisations to provide businesses in Defence, Food & Beverage, Manufacturing and MedTech sectors with additional financial support.
Defence Innovation Network (DIN) Subsidy
Eligible NSW Defence businesses can access a Defence Innovation Network (DIN) subsidy. This can be combined with the Australian Government rebate.
Defence Science Centre (DSC) Subsidy
Eligible WA Defence businesses can access a Defence Science Centre (DSC) subsidy. This can be combined with the Australian Government rebate.
Food Innovation Australia Limited (FIAL) Subsidy
Eligible food and beverage businesses can access funding support from Food Innovation Australia Limited (FIAL). This can be combined with the Australian Government rebate.
Innovative Manufacturing CRC (IMCRC) Subsidy
Eligible manufacturing businesses can access funding support from the Innovative Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (IMCRC). This can be combined with the Australian Government rebate.
MTPConnect REDI Subsidy
Businesses within the medtech, biotech and pharma sector can access funding support from the MedTech and Pharma Growth Centre (MTPConnect). This can be combined with the Australian Government rebate.
