Advanced Technology for ATAC-seq
Medical, Biological and other Sciences
ABOUT THE INDUSTRY PARTNER
Lamnoo is developing a disruptive technology to profile the structure of DNA and other molecules in biological samples. The Lamnoo technology will facilitate advances in cancer and rare disease diagnosis, agriculture, and infectious disease diagnosis and management. Lamnoo’s technology enhances existing 3rd party DNA sequencing technologies by unlocking fine-scale structural and long-range information in an easy-to-use, low-cost assay.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
The successful candidate has the opportunity to get involved in an early stage company with a high growth trajectory. There is an opportunity to help shape a technology that will transform genomic healthcare, agriculture, and microbiology.
RESEARCH TO BE CONDUCTED
The Lamnoo internship project will involve developing and optimising novel enzyme-based assays to profile DNA in complex samples. The intern will contribute to developing a technology that greatly enhances clinical genomics, agricultural genomics, and infectious disease genomics, providing a low cost assay with resolution well beyond what current technologies are able to deliver. The project involves developing a novel form of ATAC-seq technology, with initial work to be carried out on human cell culture samples.
SKILLS WISH LIST
If you’re a postgraduate research student and meet some or all the below we want to hear from you. We strongly encourage women, indigenous and disadvantaged candidates to apply:
- Strong background in molecular biology and genomics assays.
- Innovative, insightful, and creative.
- Detail-oriented and meticulous.
- Expertise with processing samples for high throughput DNA sequencing, cell culture, DNA extraction, PCR, ATAC-seq.
- Strong communication and record-keeping skills.
RESEARCH OUTCOMES
The research will lead to data that provides a detailed characterisation of a new technology for genome profiling, supporting its optimisation. The results may support one or more patent applications.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The intern will receive $3,300 per month of the internship, usually in the form of scholarship payments.
It is expected that the intern will primarily undertake this research project during regular business hours and maintain contact with their academic mentor throughout the internship either through face-to-face or phone meetings as appropriate.
The intern and their academic mentor will have the opportunity to negotiate the project’s scope, milestones and timeline during the project planning stage.
Please note, applications are reviewed regularly and this internship may be filled prior to the advertised closing date if a suitable applicant is identified. Early submissions are encouraged.
