University contacts use disciplines and keywords listed as a general guide to distribute to postgraduate students. You can still apply if you are uncertain whether you fit into these disciplines or keywords if you have the skills required for the project.

Some ‘essential’ skills are an inherent part of being able to conduct research and produce expected outcomes in the research internship. Possessing essential skills will help you progress to the shortlisting and interview stage but does not guarantee you an internship as candidates will be interviewed and selected by the industry partner. If you are missing skills that are ‘desirable’ or ‘preferable’ or you believe you possess enough of the required skills to competently complete the project, speak to your supervisor about your suitability and consider applying.
