An Australian Government 50% rebate is available to all Australian businesses that place a domestic PhD student, bringing down the cost of a 3-month research project to $10,000.
These internships are supported by the Australian Government Department of Education, through the ‘Supporting more women in STEM careers: Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) – National Research Internships Program (NRIP)’.
The total cost of a 3-5 month internship with an international student, placed outside of the Australian Government’s NRIP Program, starts from $25,000 for a 3-month research project. This includes:
Defence Innovation Network (DIN) Voucher
Eligible NSW Defence businesses can access a $10,000 Defence Innovation Network (DIN) Voucher. When combined with the Australian Government 50% Rebate, this brings down the cost of a 3-month project to $5,000.
Innovative Manufacturing CRC (IMCRC) Voucher
Eligible manufacturing businesses can access up up to $10,000 in funding support from the Innovative Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (IMCRC). When combined with the Australian Government 50% Rebate, this brings down the cost of a 3-month project to $5,000 for IMCRC partners or $7,500 for non-IMCRC partners.
